Skarner Strengths & Weaknesses

Can take objectives in a jiffy during the early game as the pits are near his crystals. Fighting near his crystals gives him a lot of strength.

His ability to kidnap a carry and then put them in a disadvantageous position allows him to flank enemies with ease. His tankiness prevents him from getting killed immediately.

His strength increases if he actively tries to clear wards and use the lack of vision to gank enemies. This is due to the amount of pick potential which he has in his kit.


If the enemy is smart, they will set vision near the Jungle entrances and make it extremely hard for Skarner to get ganks off.

He is prone to get crowd controlled when he is trying to Ultimate ImpaleR someone. Hence, he will be reliant on his team to be able to provide a distraction for him.

His pickoff power decreases with the game length. This is due to the fact that the enemy team starts buying defensive items and all the major carries probably have a Zhonya’s or Quicksilver Sash.

Early game
0 - 15 min
Skarner is Average

Focus on farming and hitting level 6 as quickly as you can. You need to hit level 6 as fast as possible to increase your ganking potential.

Your Ultimate is an incredibly strong tool. Whenever it is up, try to use it to help your allies and get kills.

Try to secure objectives with your team. If you can, try to keep it warded at all times if you’re not in a position to take it yourself.

Mid game
15 - 25 min
Skarner is Strong

Continue to pick up and secure jungle camps whenever possible. Not falling behind in the mid-game is crucial as a Jungler, so make sure you continue to farm!

As you’re a Jungler, you need to try and secure every Drake during the mid-game. Getting them and securing the Dragon Soul for your team will increase your chances of winning the game.

Look for picks with your team. If you can pick someone off, make the call for Baron or Dragon to further your lead.

Late game
25+ min
Skarner is Weak

After going in with your Ultimate ImpaleR, be prepared to fall back and peel for your allies in late game team fights.

To make getting on the enemy backline easier, group with your team but stay off to the side. If you flank from an unwarded bush, the enemy will find it harder to react to your all-in. Avoid splitting or being away from your team in the late game as the enemy will force a fight while you’re gone.

Play around your Ultimate ImpaleR in the later parts of the game. Avoid fighting unless your Ultimate ImpaleR is up. Fighting without it will make the late game team fights much harder. Delay fights and be prepared to disengage if it’s still on cooldown.

Early game0 - 15 min

Fighting near his Spires should make him extremely powerful during duels and general fights.

His Crystal SlashQ should help him a lot with his early clears. It will keep him healthy and will also grant him movement speed to catch up to enemies.

Getting his Ultimate ImpaleR should be a significant power spike for Skarner. It will allow him to kidnap important enemy team members and get rid of them quickly.

Mid game15 - 25 min

Skarner is really strong during this phase of the game. He can efficiently run up to enemies with his Crystalline ExoskeletonW, FractureE auto-attack them, and the Ultimate ImpaleR them into the ally team.

His ability to take neutral objectives is quite strong during this phase. This is also due to the presence of his Spire in that area.

Skarner should focus on picking high priority targets and killing them quickly. The enemy team can do nothing if they have no follow up damage.

Late game25+ min

Skarner will be a frontline during this phase of the game. He should peel for his carries and keep enemies off his carries.

Skarner can also look for flanks and try to kidnap high priority targets. He should be tanky enough to survive and soak up a lot of damage.

His Ultimate ImpaleR can also allow him to secure picks during this phase of the game. If he manages to get one on a high priority target, he will translate that into a Baron.
