Aatrox Matchups Overview
Aatrox General information
Aatrox periodically empowers his next basic attack which gains range 50 bonus range and deals 5-12% of the target's maximum health as bonus physical damage (which is based on level), while healing Aatrox for 100% of the bonus physical damage dealt (reduced to 25% against minions). The cooldown is reduced by 2 seconds when Aatrox hits a champion or large monster with a basic attack or an ability. And when Aatrox hits a champion with the edge of The Darkin Blade.
There are 3 potential casts for Aatrox’s Q. For the first, Aatrox swings his sword in the target direction, striking enemies in a line. For the second cast, he strikes enemies in a cone, and in the third near the target area. The first and second cast can be reactivated within 4 seconds, with the second cast refreshing this timer. For the first and second cast, hitting enemies at the far edge of the blade will deal bonus damage and be knocked up. On the third cast, enemies who are in the center will receive extra damage. The Darkin Blade deals 55% damage to minions.
Aatrox throws out a chain that stops at the first enemy hit. Enemies that are hit are slowed for 1.5 seconds. If Infernal Chains hits a champion or large monster, they are chained to that area. If the chained enemy is still in the area after 1.5 seconds, they are dragged to the center.
Passive: Aatrox heals for a percentage of damage he deals against enemy champions. Active: Aatrox dashes in a target direction. Umbral Dash can be cast during his other spells without interrupting them. For example, he can use his E in between all instances of his Q.
On activation, he fears nearby enemy minions and gains bonus movement speed, which decays over the duration. During the duration, Aatrox gains bonus attack damage and has increased self-healing. On enemy champion takedowns, the duration of World Ender is extended by 5 seconds.
Try and play around your Passive and trade when its up. Don’t look for an extended fight unless your Passive is up otherwise you’ll miss out on extra damage.
You can use your E to reposition your Q sweet spots. This includes using your E forwards, backwards and even left or right.
Play safe at level 1, and then look to play aggressive from levels 2 to 6. Aatrox is an early game dominant champion, so make sure you play aggressive early on.
