Sion Strengths & Weaknesses

Can soak a lot of damage for his team as a front line. This allows him to peel for his carries with ease, which can allow his carries to play more freely.

His Ultimate Unstoppable OnslaughtR can be used to set up ganks on other lanes. No one suspects a Sion to ult from base and down to the bottom or middle lane.

His Roar of the SlayerE is a very easy skill to land which guarantees a Decimating SmashQ from Sion’s end. This can be of great value for setting up ganks for his Jungler.

Extremely susceptible to getting poked out by ranged laners. In team fights, he can be kited to death by any ranged carry which the enemy team has.

If the enemy is smart and sets vision in the lane brushes, he won’t be able to rely on his Decimating SmashQ to poke/start an all-in.

His maneuverability decreases while using his Ultimate Unstoppable OnslaughtR, making it hard for him to land it when the enemy is out in the open and has some form of dash or blink.

Game plan
Early game
0 - 15 min
Sion is Average

Your goal in the early game is to play safe, pick up gold and XP and avoid dying to the enemy laner. You are rather weak in the early game and need time to come online.

Once you have quite a few levels under your belt, you should look for short favourable trades. As you’re not strong in the early game, you may wish to wait for the enemy to waste an ability before playing aggressive.

Keep the minion wave closer to your side of the map in the early game. This will ensure safety and reduce your chances of dying in lane.

Mid game
15 - 25 min

Split push during the mid-game and try to secure side objectives. Avoid grouping if possible.

Use your strong duelling potential in the mid-game to fight and duel anyone who tries to stop you from split pushing.

Although you’re a really strong split pusher in the mid-game, be prepared to group with your team and fight 5v5. You should usually start grouping when there are no nearby objectives to take.

Late game
25+ min
Sion is Strong

Peel for your carries in late game team fights to increase the chances of your team winning the fight. If they die at the beginning, you will not be able to win the fight alone.

Stick with your team in the late game. Do not split up or walk away from them otherwise the enemy may try to pick you off or initiate a 4v5 fight when you’re away from your team.

Focus the nearest enemy champion to your carries and work as a team to take down the enemy one by one. If you focus the backline alone, you may be an easy target for the enemy and may die quickly. By focusing on the nearest champion, you will survive for longer and keep your carries alive.

Power Spikes
Early game0 - 15 min

His Decimating SmashQ is a very potent CC ability in the lane. His main power resides in him being able to use it from within a brush.

Sion's Roar of the SlayerE will help him set up Decimating SmashQ's on the enemy team. The Roar of the SlayerE slow is paramount to his overall power in the lane.

Once he gets his Ultimate Unstoppable OnslaughtR, Sion can use it to all-in enemies in his lane and lane gank other lanes after recalling.

Mid game15 - 25 min

Sion's Soul FurnaceW will be very impactful during this phase of the game. The shield should help him survive longer and deal a lot of damage if he goes for the lethality build.

His ability to set up fights is uncanny, and he should always look to all-in when the enemies are clumped together.

He can take towers reasonably quickly as well. If a fight is too far away from him, he should use this opportunity to take the lane towers as soon as he can.

Late game25+ min

His front lining capabilities are enormous, and he can tank enemy damage for days. His goal will be to use his Decimating SmashQ to knockup mispositioned targets.

His Ultimate Unstoppable OnslaughtR will come in very handy during this phase of the game. He can look for flanks and all-in enemies, then extend the CC duration with his Decimating SmashQ.

He can also help his teammates land their CC on enemies. He just needs to hit an enemy with his Roar of the SlayerE or knock them up with his Decimating SmashQ.
