Combat Readiness Gunlancer Build Guide for PvE

Build

required skill points: 312

This is the tankiest build in the game. You will shrug off attacks and do respectable damage all while taunting enemies and supporting your allies!

The build encourages you to take all your blue skills that scale with specialization, hence the popular nick name "Blue Build". Your focus is to keep a healthy shield gauge so you can stay in Defensive Stance, and hit the boss with your full rotation following .

Your goal is to max out your 4 main damage skills and have at level 7 for the tripod. That means that once you hit 55 and 60, make sure those 4 skills are leveled past 10. You should have both your utility skills at 10 to ensure maximum effectiveness, and your counter can stay unleveled.

How to play

Overall this is a very easy build to play. There are two important things about playing this build well: Manage your shield guage well and maximizing uptime by executing your rotation perfectly.

Shield Management

You have to turn off Defensive Stance to use and build Shield meter, but a good player can also identify when to turn it off in other situations. Outside of wipe attacks and one-shots, you should be able to tank anything, but knowing how much you can tank before your next taunt is key. If your shield disappears, so does your uptime and damage.

Rotation

The most important thing is to use your strongest skills in the window. When you are new to the class, you will and just fit in whatever you can in those 5 seconds. Ideally you want to split your 4 hard hitting skills across 2 windows:

And then when recharges:

You can also use a in the first rotation if your character has enough attack speed through party and self buffs. It has a short cooldown so it will be up again after you use in the second rotation.

As your character gains more swiftness through gear and engravings, and you gain more experience as a player, you will play around to get a feel for things and what you can fit into each rotation.

Alternatives

If you don't need , you can add in for more damage. You can also use instead of if a counter is not needed. It will also improve your damage significantly.

You want as much Specialization as possible in this build. It increases the amount of shield you gain from as well as the damage from all your blue skills. At the highest level of Specialization, you can gain more than half your bar from one Taunt.

Crit is your secondary stat that you get from your necklace and is more of a damage increase than Swiftness.

Shield Bash

Shield Charge

You want damage gems only on the four hardest hitting skills.

Cooldown Gems

Prioritize damage tripods for your best skills as well as . Then you want tripods that reduce the cooldown on your utility skills. You will have some slots left after that, so you can choose to use them on things that help you (more cooldown on counter or more shield on utility skills).

Gear Set

You will use the Pre-ordained Diligence set from Argos until you hit 1445. After that, you want to use the 6 piece Nightmare Flower set. It bolsters your damage consistently and makes sure you never run out of mana.
