Xerath Strengths & Weaknesses
Strengths

Unparalleled poke with his ArcanopulseQ and Eye of DestructionW. His Eye of DestructionW slow makes it much easier for him to be able to land his ArcanopulseQ and Shocking OrbE on his opponents.

His Shocking OrbE is a stun, which can be game changing if it lands on the proper target. It also gives Xerath some form of self peel as he doesn’t want enemy champions on his face.

His Eye of DestructionW slow can also help him immensely in team fights. He can set-up opportunities for his team to land their crowd control on the Eye of DestructionW slowed enemy champion/

Weaknesses

Very immobile and susceptible to crowd control from the enemy team, especially when he is charging his ArcanopulseQ up.

Can be easily all-in’d if he uses his Shocking OrbE carelessly and he doesn’t have his Flash up. Can be flanked with ease when he is pushed up in the lane due to his in-built waveclear.

His Ultimate Rite of the ArcaneR can easily be interrupted and can be used as a traction to target him and get rid of him immediately. Xerath will need to position properly before using his Ultimate Rite of the ArcaneR , else there is a good chance that he will get killed immediately.

Game plan
Early game

Your goal throughout the laning phase is to poke and harass the enemy in lane. You have a lot of poke, so try to poke the enemy down as often as you can.

Play safe for the first few levels while you land poke on the enemy with your Eye of DestructionW. Once they’re low enough, you can commit to an all-in.

Once you’ve hit level 6 and purchased key component items, look to harass and constantly push the enemy into their tower. This will allow you to earn turret plating and increase your gold income.

Mid game

If your allies move to your lane after destroying their tower, rotate and move around the map to continue farming and gaining XP and gold.

Use your abilities to clear the minion waves quickly so your team can siege/ prevent a siege from the enemy team. If you can land poke while also pushing the minion wave, you could look for a favourable trade.

While sieging Baron or Dragon, or whenever you’re pushing the enemy under their tower, look for a pick with your abilities. If you can catch someone out of position or blow them up, you’ll be able to take the objective for free.

Late game

Stick with your team in the late game. Do not split up or walk away from them otherwise the enemy may try to pick you off or initiate a 4v5 fight when you’re away from your team.

Look for picks with your abilities. Picking someone off and then collapsing on them to take them down is a great way of winning a team fight and ending the game. Look for picks on isolated targets if possible.

Keep a constant eye on you and your allies positioning. You need to poke the enemy down and delay fights in the late game, but you need to watch your positioning as you move forward to harass. Do not get picked off by trying to harass and poke the enemy down.

Power Spikes
Early game0 - 15 min

Xerath's level 6 is compelling as he can snipe targets from a long-range in both his or some other lane. The damage output will increase along with items, so it will only make him more powerful.

More points in his ArcanopulseQ will result in more damage being dealt to enemy targets. Slowing the target with hiss Eye of DestructionW would be optimal to guarantee a ArcanopulseQ hit on the enemy.

Xerath's first item component purchase will give him two advantages. First, he will wave clear very quickly (which is vital to roaming around). Second, he will be able to use his abilities more times as he will have an increased mana pool.

Mid game15 - 25 min

Getting 2 points in his Ultimate Rite of the ArcaneR will make Xerath's damage skyrocket. He can still impact team fights happening far away from him with ease. The only difference will be that he will be more efficient in doing so.

His first ability will be maxed out at level 9. This means that he can dish out a lot of damage with his ArcanopulseQ and snipe enemies down easily. Immobile enemies will have a tough time dealing with him.

Xerath is really good at securing picks with his ranged abilities, and his ability to impact team fights is really high. His AoE abilities make it quite possible for him to take down multiple enemies at once.

Late game25+ min

The third point in his Ultimate Rite of the ArcaneR will allow Xerath to deal increased damage to enemies. The shot count will increase as well, giving Xerath more chances of hitting an enemy reliably.

He offers a lot of poke during the later parts of the game. This comes in handy before neutral objective fights, as the enemy team won't be able to all-in or contest that objective due to them being poked out.

Xerath is huge during team fights as his abilities can burst down multiple targets with a single cast. He will destroy the enemy if they happen to be clumped up together.
