Shen's most important tool early is his taunt
. It is the guarantee for his increased
damage and is the most effective way for im to trade. If he lands his taunt

Stand United (Shen’s R) has a 3 minute 20 second base cooldown at rank 1. If it can be baited out in a skirmish, you take a significant amount of his power out of the game for a good amount of time as there are few items with cooldown reduction Shen will ever build.
Shen will be looking to split push while his

At level 6, Stand United
allows Shen to impact his other lanes from anywhere on the map. Be careful for tower dives or of enemy players baiting an engage into a Stand United. Ping as soon as he hits 6.
Titanic Hydra givens Shen high amounts of burst, higher wave clear and gives him mixed damage. Be cautious about getting taunted (hit by E) as Shen with this item early is a reasonably strong duelist.
