Periodically, Maokai's next basic attack against a non-structure heals him. Each time Maokai casts an ability or is hit by an enemy ability, the cooldown is reduced.
After a short delay, Maokai sends a shockwave forward in a line, dealing damage to all enemies it passes through and slowing them by 99%. Enemies near Maokai are also knocked back.
Maokai dashes to a target enemy, becoming untargetable, dealing magic damage on impact and briefly rooting them.
Maokai throws a Sapling to a target location, giving vision. If an enemy gets in range, the Sapling chases them and explodes after 2.5 seconds or on contact, dealing damage and slowing.
Maokai summons a wall of 5 thorny brambles that slowly move forward, each dealing damage and rooting the first champion hit.
Use R when you are far away and try to catch your opponents with your Ultimate. After that you can use your other abilities to lockdown an important target.
Use your W on an opponent to get close and then walk behind them and use Q to knock them back closer into your team. Then use your R in the direction of the opposing team to zone them away.
Maokai can heal himself with his Passive. Don't panic in fights and auto attack whenever you can.
Try to group up with your team as soon as possible. Maokai is an excellent choice for larger skirmishes.
In a team fights, Maokai is better at protecting his team then engaging the fight.To compensate for his lack of mobility, try to create a situation where the enemy engages on you.
