Garen passively regenerates health until he is hit by an enemy ability or takes non-minion damage.
Garen gains bonus movement speed and cleanses all slows. His next basic attack within 4.5 seconds deals bonus physical damage and silences his target for 1.5 seconds. This is an auto attack reset.
Garen permanently gains bonus armor and magic resistance every time he kills an enemy unit up to a max of 30 bonus resistances. Activating Courage reduces incoming damage, grants tenacity and gains a basic shield.
Garen rapidly spins his sword around him that deals damage to enemies it comes into contact with. While spinning, he is disarbed and ghosted. This ability can critically strike enemies, and enemies who are hit by it 6 times have their armor reduced. You can reactivate this ability to cancel it.
Gains truesight of the target champion for 1 second and deals true damage to them after a very small delay.
It is common game knowledge that Garen's Q is an AA reset. Always auto before casting your Q for extra damage.
The EQ combo, strictly speaking, does more damage than the Bread and Butter Combo; Garen's E armour reduction will allow the following empowered auto to deal more damage. Q can be activated during or after E for stickiness or disengage respectively.

Garen's most straight forward way of engaging his targets.and dealing damage. Q gives Garen bonus MS to engage with and the silence prevents his targets from using disengages to escape his E. Post-6, R is used at the end (if within lethal).
Quick tips to play Garen
Look to trade frequently during the early game, but only when it favours you. Play safe while your Passive gets to work before looking to trade again.
Make sure to use your
activate properly to avoid cc or burst while trading.
You can cancel your
early and finish the enemy off with basic attacks. Keep this in mind if you are planning on using your
to execute the enemy.
