Varus' synergises well with his and and he will often look to use either of them after autoing you two or three times.
Varus gains attack speed after killing a unit (through his Passive). He will often look to trade after killing a minion. Deny him by going in for trades when his Passive isn’t active.
There are two different builds for Varus; either on-hit or poke. He will often run Comet when he plays poke. And he will deal a lot of damage with his and so be sure to dodge those abilities whenever possible.
Varus' is a very good teamfight tool. Run out of it if it hits one of your teammates. It also applies his , so watch out for the extra damage if you do stick within.
Picking off Varus before a teamfight is highly effective. Bursting him is one of the best ways to do so as he is rather squishy and immobile due to the lack of a dash or escape ability.
Varus is a very weak team fighter when going the poke build. Forcing teamfights are often the best choice when playing against poke Varus or else he might end up poking your team down.
His first power spike is when he finishes his Blade of The Ruined King. Be careful when trading against him as he will do a surprising amount of damage with just this item.
He is a very good late game champion with Blade of The Ruined King > Rageblade and Runaan's Hurricane. He can become a monster when standing still, so make sure to burst him down or CC him before he can apply damage
Varus power spikes again when he finishes his Rageblade. He will often try to stack it up before going into a fight to deal burst damage with his and after one or two auto attacks.
