Malphite is weak early and relies on you playing safe so he can scale. Try to trade a lot and play aggressively so you can deny him from picking up farm.
Malphite gains more security when he gains his shield from his Passive. Try to play aggressive so he cannot gain the shield. If he does gain the shield, look to poke him down and destroy the shield before engaging.
Up until level 6, Malphite has minimal roaming and trading potential. Try to keep the wave closer or in the middle of the lane so he has to over extend for farm. If you push him in, you are playing to his win condition as you cannot engage or trade under his Tower.
Do not try to take the Baron if Malphite has his
up and is nearby. As your team will be quite close together- you will give him an easy time when it comes to engaging and he will be able to hit a multi-person knock up.
Malphite will try to sneak an engage when your team is grouped. He cannot necessarily run directly at you, so he will look to flank. Ward the bushes and nearby areas when sieging to reduce the chances of being engaged on.
Malphite is not very useful when his
is on cooldown. While he still will be tanky, he will lack any form of hard crowd control. If he doesn’t have his
, look to fight him.
Malphite has a better time in lane once he has his Passive as it will protect him from incoming damage. Do not let him get this shield by any means, so look to keep poking and trading with him.
Once Malphite has backed and picks up Bambi’s Cinder, his trading potential increases and he will dish out more damage. Keep this in mind when trading and limit extended trades unless you are certain you will come out ahead.
At level 6 and whenever Malphite has his Ultimate, his trading potential increases and he can easily set up kills for his team. Play cautiously and do not over extend when he has his Ultimate without proper vision on the enemy Jungler.
