Leona will try to engage on you if you mis-position or walk too far forward in lane. Try to limit the time spent over extended and in range of her .
For Supports, look to engage on Leona when she doesn’t have her available as it prevents her from engaging onto your allied laner once you go in.
Leona has a very scripted play style and it is very obvious when she is going to engage. Try to react appropriately and respect her. But, do not over respect her in lane.
Leona can be the only source of engage for her team. When this is the case, it leaves her backline open for the taking. When she engages, focus the backline down as they will not be able to defend themselves and Leona will not be able to protect them.
Leona struggles getting out of combat once she has gone in. Use this to your advantage by taking her down when her allies are not there to follow up.
Try to limit fighting in close quartered areas like inside the jungle or around the Dragon/ Baron pit to reduce the chances of her getting a multi person stun with her .
Leona is really strong at level 2 because of her all in potential. Infact, her all in potential is incredibly strong throughout the laning phase under the right circumstances: such as if she has lots of health and mana.
While Leona can easily lock players down, she has no real way of escaping after she has gone in. Use this knowledge to your advantage by baiting her in when your Jungler is nearby and ready to gank to turn around the exchange.
Leona can deal a lot of damage during trades thanks to her > > combo. She will also get a lot of extra protection and damage thanks to her when it’s active. Try to stay out of range of her when it evaporate so you do not take extra damage during the trade.
