Kassadin counter tips

Laning Against

Kassadin's Q; aside from dealing damage, shields him from magic damage. Avoid one-to-one ability trades against Kassadin as a Mage and look to trade whenever it's down.

Pre-6, Kassadin has no access to his mobility ability, and has poor wave clearing. He is very easy to gank. Freezing the wave in front of your own tower with a modest amount of jungle pressure (successful ganks being a bonus) can destroy any semblance of his presence in lane.

Post-6, be wary of Kassadin's

RiftWalk

stacking mechanic. Each time he casts his

RiftWalk

, the damage increases and mana cost doubles. At full four stacks, his

RiftWalk

costs 800 mana. Keep an eye on his mana pool when fighting as once he is low, he is very vulnerable and cannot return fire.

Strategy VS

Kassadin's Passive and

NullLance

magic shield are useless against AD. Champions like Zed, Talon, and Pantheon are extremely oppressive matchups for Kassadin and, played properly, will prevent Kassadin from scaling appropriately.

Kassadin's late game is potent. Avoid letting Kassadin free farm or stalling the game out for too long without achieving anything. Punish his early game with proper wave manipulation and gank setups so he can't transition smoothly as the game progresses.

When it comes to team fighting, Kassadin will try to assassinate targets in the backline. He will usually hide off to the side to begin with, so make sure the sides are warded when sieging or fighting.

Power Spikes

At level 6 when Kassadin gets access to his

RiftWalk

; new opportunities become clear. Aside from Kassadin's newfound capacity to all-in, Kassadin can look to poke with

ForcePulse

and

NullLance

while using his

RiftWalk

to gap close after his target uses an ability.

Rod of Ages, Archangel's Staff, and Lich Bane all change Kassadin's dynamics regarding how he's played. Adapt your playstyle accordingly when he gets each item as he becomes inherently stronger.

At level 16, Kassadin's teamfighting and mobility potential are unmatched. His

RiftWalk

is on a 1.4 second CD with 30% CD

RiftWalk

allowing him engage, disengage, bait, and chase at his discretion. His

RiftWalk

and

ForcePulse

are powerful, easy to land Ao

ForcePulse

abilities on very short CD. Play safe and do not over extend unless you can match him.
